Mountain park set on fire
Shiraz, Fars Prov., Iran, June 11, 2000 (IRNA) -- A fire broke out in the suburb of this southern city on Saturday, burning some 100 hectares of natural wildlife in a mountain park known as National Bamou Park, it was announced on Sunday.
"The 10-hour long fire has caused huge losses in this ancient park," the public relations office of the province's Environment Protection Department reported.
Four visitors touring the area at the time have been arrested as suspects.
Situated some 10 kilometers north of Shiraz, National Bamou Park is home to different rodents, birds and plant species.
